SCRIPTURE

"If any man`s work shall abide which he built thereon, he shall receive a reward." — 1 Corinthians 3:14 (ASV)

If any man’s work remains, he will receive a reward. His meaning is that those are fools who depend on human judgment, considering it enough to be approved by others, for then only will the work have praise and reward—when it has stood the test of the day of the Lord. Therefore, he exhorts His true ministers to keep that day in view.

For by the word remains, he implies that doctrines fly about, as it were, in an unsettled state—indeed, like empty bubbles, they glitter for the moment, until they are thoroughly tested. Therefore, it follows that we must count as nothing all worldly applause, the emptiness of which will very soon be exposed by heaven’s judgment.
