SCRIPTURE

"who is one the right hand of God, having gone into heaven; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him." — 1 Peter 3:22 (ASV)

Who is on the right hand of God. He points out to us Christ's ascension to heaven, so that our eyes do not seek Him in the world; and this belongs especially to faith.

He also highlights His session on the Father’s right hand, so that we do not doubt His power to save us. We have explained elsewhere what His sitting at the right hand of the Father means: namely, that Christ exercises supreme power everywhere as God’s representative.

An explanation of this is what follows: angels being made subject to Him; and he adds powers and authorities only for the sake of amplification, because angels are usually designated by such words. Peter’s aim, then, was to set forth Christ’s sovereignty by these high titles.
