John Calvin Commentary Acts 10:29

"wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me." — Acts 10:29 (ASV)

We must also note what he adds, that he came without gainsaying, for this is the holy silence of faith, when without murmuring against God we receive meekly what he commands, abandoning all contrary reasons which intrude themselves.
