SCRIPTURE

"And the next sabbath almost the whole city was gathered together to hear the word of God." — Acts 13:44 (ASV)

And when the Sabbath came. The large gathering of the people proves that Paul and Barnabas did not loiter between the Sabbaths, and their efforts with the Gentiles had not been in vain; for the interest and desires of the people had been so aroused that they all desired to understand the whole matter more certainly, which they hoped would happen if it were discussed among the Jews. For we may suppose that although they had been attracted by some pleasant foretaste, they were not yet fully convinced to receive the doctrine of the gospel without doubt, but that they came into the synagogue in a state of uncertainty, between hope and desire.
