SCRIPTURE

"And as he held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon`s, greatly wondering." — Acts 3:11 (ASV)

In the porch. It is likely that a porch was built in that place where Solomon’s porch formerly stood, and that it took its name from there. For the old temple had been pulled down, but Zerubbabel and Ezra, in the rebuilding and new construction of the same temple, had imitated the original as closely as they could possibly devise. Afterward, Herod renewed it and made it far more gorgeous, but that vain cost which he had expended had not yet erased the memory of Solomon in the hearts of the people. And Luke names it as a most famous place, to which the people ran together in crowds to celebrate their feasts to God at the appointed times.
