SCRIPTURE

"And all that dwelt at Lydda and in Sharon saw him, and they turned to the Lord." — Acts 9:35 (ASV)

And all those. His meaning is that the miracle was proclaimed widely and was known throughout the whole city. For when Scripture says all, it does not mean every single individual it denotes; rather, it uses all to mean the greater part, or many, or the general populace.

Therefore, the meaning is that although there was only a small number of godly men there, a large part of the people became members of the Church. And this clause expresses the fruit of the miracle, because they embraced Christ and His gospel.

For this reason, those people, whoever they are, corrupt miracles who focus only on human beings and do not direct their attention toward this purpose: that, being instructed about the power and grace of Christ, they might cling only to Him. Therefore, that sign of Christ’s divine power which He showed was the beginning of their turning to Him.
