"And as Lydda was nigh unto Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men unto him, entreating him, Delay not to come on unto us." — Acts 9:38 (ASV)
The disciples, which had heard, The washing of the corpse shows that the disciples did not know what would happen, for in this way they prepare the corpse to be buried. Yet this is some sign of hope, that they lay her in an upper chamber, and send to Peter. Furthermore, they do not complain against God, nor do they cry out that it is an unfitting thing; but they humbly beseech God’s help, not with the intention that Tabitha should be made immortal, but their only desire is for her life to be prolonged for a time, so that she may still benefit the Church.
