SCRIPTURE

"giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;" — Ephesians 5:20 (ASV)

Giving thanks always. He means that this is a pleasure which should never lose its delight; that this is an exercise of which we should never tire. Innumerable benefits which we receive from God provide fresh cause for joy and thanksgiving. At the same time, he reminds believers that it will indicate ungodly and disgraceful sloth if they do not always give thanks — if their whole life is not spent in the diligent pursuit and practice of praising God.
