John Calvin Commentary Ezekiel 14:12-13

"And the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, Son of man, when a land sinneth against me by committing a trespass, and I stretch out my hand upon it, and break the staff of the bread thereof, and send famine upon it, and cut off from it man and beast;" — Ezekiel 14:12-13 (ASV)

The next verse is thought to be joined, for some interpreters completely distort the Prophet’s meaning by ending the sentence there, as if he had said, 'I will extend my hand over it,' and so on. But the sentence is dependent, as we will see.
