SCRIPTURE

"Destruction cometh; and they shall seek peace, and there shall be none." — Ezekiel 7:25 (ASV)

He confirms the same doctrine. He says, therefore, destruction is come. He now adds, there shall be no peace.

This confirmation was not in vain. For people always hope they will obtain some advantage by turning their backs; consequently, they seize on hiding places from where God draws them into the light. Then they form many hopes of safety for themselves, even when God holds them bound down.

Since, therefore, people are so prone to slip away and, by seeking refuge, think they can elude God and His judgments, the Prophet says that though they seek peace, they shall find none. This is so that they will not doubt the destruction and cutting off that he mentions.
