"And the sons of Noah, that went forth from the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan." — Genesis 9:18 (ASV)

The sons of Noah. Moss enumerates the sons of Noah, not only because he is about to proceed to the following history, but also for the purpose of more fully illustrating the force of the promise, Replenish the earth. For thus we may better understand how efficacious the blessing of God has been, because an immense multitude of people arose in a short time from so small a number, and because one family, and that a small one, grew into so many and such numerous nations.
