John Calvin Commentary Jeremiah 25:2

"which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying:" — Jeremiah 25:2 (ASV)

He shows more clearly in this verse what he had just said—that he was taught from above, not so that he might suppress what he had heard, but rather so that he might proclaim it as from the mouth of God; and therefore he gives himself the honorable title of a Prophet, as if he had said, that he came equipped with the undeniable commands of God and was, at the same time, honored with the office of a Prophet; and he came in this manner so that no one might dare to despise his doctrine.
