John Calvin Commentary

John Calvin Commentary
"I am the good shepherd; and I know mine own, and mine own know me," — John 10:14 (ASV)
And I know my sheep, and am known by mine. In the former clause, he again holds out his love towards us; for knowledge proceeds from love, and is accompanied by care. But it also means that he utterly disregards all who do not obey the Gospel, as he repeats in the second clause, and confirms what he had formerly said, that — on the other hand — he is known by the sheep.
