John Calvin Commentary John 21:24

"This is the disciple that beareth witness of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his witness is true." — John 21:24 (ASV)

This is that disciple. Having until now mentioned himself in the third person, John now declares that it is himself, so that greater weight may be attached to the statements of one who was an eyewitness and who had fully known all that he relates.
