"The Pharisees therefore answered them, Are ye also led astray?" — John 7:47 (ASV)

And are you also seduced? While they rebuke their officers, they strive, at the same time, to keep them in subjection. For by these words they mean that it would be unreasonable and unbecoming for them not to remain steadfast, though the whole people should revolt. But we must see on what argument they rely, when they so haughtily insult Christ.
