John Calvin Commentary

John Calvin Commentary
"For I have no man likeminded, who will care truly for your state." — Philippians 2:20 (ASV)
I have no man like-minded. While some draw another meaning from the passage, I interpret it as follows: “I have no one equally well-disposed to attend to your interests.” For Paul, in my opinion, compares Timothy with others, rather than with himself, and he bestows this commendation upon him, with the specific purpose that he may be more highly esteemed by them for his rare excellence.
