John Calvin Commentary Philippians 4:20

"Now unto our God and Father [be] the glory for ever and ever. Amen." — Philippians 4:20 (ASV)

Now to our God and Father This can be understood as a general thanksgiving, with which he closes the letter; or it can be seen as relating more specifically to the last clause, referring to the generosity shown to Paul. For regarding the assistance that the Philippians had provided him, it was fitting for him to consider himself indebted to them for it, in such a way as to acknowledge that God, in His mercy, had enabled them to provide this aid.
