"My foot standeth in an even place: In the congregations will I bless Jehovah." — Psalms 26:12 (ASV)

This verse can be explained in two ways. Some believe that David declares how carefully he had practiced uprightness among men; but I rather think that he celebrates God's grace toward him and, at the same time, vows his gratitude.

Using this metaphor, therefore, he tells us that he was preserved in safety. And since he knew that it was God's hand alone that enabled him to stand, he therefore turns to praise and thanksgiving. Nor does he merely say that he will acknowledge God's goodness bestowed upon him in private, but also in public, so that the assemblies of God's people may be witnesses of it.

It is highly necessary that everyone should publicly celebrate his experience of God's grace, as an example to others to confide in Him.
