John Calvin Commentary Romans 15:11

"And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; And let all the peoples praise him." — Romans 15:11 (ASV)

Praise God, all you Gentiles, etc. This passage is suitably applied; for how can those who do not know God’s greatness praise him? They could no more do this than call on his name when it is unknown. It is then a prophecy most suitable to prove the calling of the Gentiles; and this appears still more evident from the reason that is added there; for he instructs them to give thanks for God’s truth and mercy (Psalms 117:1).
