John Gill Commentary 1 Kings 13:26

"And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the mouth of Jehovah: therefore Jehovah hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spake unto him." — 1 Kings 13:26 (ASV)

And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof The old prophet, that had deceived him, by telling him a lie: he said, it is the man of God, who was disobedient to the word of the Lord; but not a syllable does he say of his own sin in deceiving him; though one would think his own conscience must smite him for it: therefore the Lord has delivered him to the lion, which has torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the Lord, which he spoke to him; and that by himself, (1 Kings 13:21 1 Kings 13:22) .
