John Gill Commentary

John Gill Commentary
"So [he made] two doors of olive-wood; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm-trees." — 1 Kings 6:32 (ASV)
The two doors also [were of] olive tree
The two leaves of the door, as before observed, repeated for the sake of the ornament of them, as follows:
and he carved upon them carvings of cherubims, and palm trees, and open
flowers ;
as upon the walls, (1 Kings 6:29) ;
and overlaid [them] with gold ;
the two doors:
and spread gold upon the cherubims, and upon the palm trees ;
thin plates of gold.
