From Ekron even unto the sea
The Mediterranean sea, or the west, as the Targum:

all that [lay] near Ashdod, with their villages ;
this is the Azotus of the New Testament, (Acts 8:40) , another of the principalities of the Philistines, of which and Ekron (See Gill on Amos 1:8) and (See Gill on Zephaniah 2:4).
