"For everyone that exalteth himself shall be humbled; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." — Luke 14:11 (ASV)

For whoever exalts himself
Either in the above way, or any other, shall be abased, humbled and mortified:

and he who humbles himself ;
behaves in an humble and modest manner,

shall be exalted; (See Gill on Matthew 23:12).
