John Gill Commentary Numbers 20:9

"And Moses took the rod from before Jehovah, as he commanded him." — Numbers 20:9 (ASV)

And Moses took the rod from before the Lord .
&c.] Which was laid up somewhere in the sanctuary, as well as the rod of Aaron, (Numbers 17:7Numbers 17:10) :

as he commanded him ;
being always faithful and obedient to him that appointed him.
