John Gill Commentary

John Gill Commentary
"They would none of my counsel; They despised all my reproof." — Proverbs 1:30 (ASV)
They would none of my counsel Neither his doctrines nor his ordinances; nor would they attend to the wholesome counsel and advice he gave them in his sermons upon the mount, and in other discourses of his at other times and places;
they despised all my reproof ; for their hypocrisy, uncleanness, covetousness, and other sins they were addicted to; see (Matthew 23:1–36) ; but they "derided" him for it, (Luke 16:14) ; where the same word is used as is by the Septuagint here.
These things are repeated from (Proverbs 1:25) , to observe their ingratitude, and how just was their ruin, and what the true cause of it.
