Matthew Henry Commentary Proverbs 10:13-14

"In the lips of him that hath discernment wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding. Wise men lay up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is a present destruction." — Proverbs 10:13-14 (ASV)

We are stimulated to the study of wisdom by considering both the pleasure and the profit of it. All people relish things that are sweet to the palate; but many have no relish for the things that are sweet to the purified soul, and that make us wise unto salvation.
