SCRIPTURE

"He is in the way of life that heedeth correction; But he that forsaketh reproof erreth. He that hideth hatred is of lying lips; And he that uttereth a slander is a fool. In the multitude of words there wanteth not transgression; But he that refraineth his lips doeth wisely. The tongue of the righteous is [as] choice silver: The heart of the wicked is little worth. The lips of the righteous feed many; But the foolish die for lack of understanding." — Proverbs 10:17-21 (ASV)

To these words, to this knowledge, the ear must be bowed down, and the heart applied by faith and love. To live a life of delight in God and dependence on him, is the foundation of all practical religion. The way to know the certainty of the word of truth, is to be conscientious about our duty.
