Matthew Henry Commentary

Matthew Henry Commentary
"The fear of Jehovah prolongeth days; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened. The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness; But the expectation of the wicked shall perish." — Proverbs 10:27-28 (ASV)
A man may show himself to be a wise man, by the good temper of his mind, and by the good control of his tongue. He is careful when he speaks, to speak to the point. God knows his heart, and the folly that is bound there; therefore He cannot be deceived in His judgment as humans may be.
What man is there who loves life? Let him fear God, and that will secure for him enough life in this world, and eternal life in the next.
Ungodly men take more pains to do mischief than would be necessary to do good. The whisperer separates friends: what a hateful, but how common a character!
