Matthew Henry Commentary

Matthew Henry Commentary
"He becometh poor that worketh with a slack hand; But the hand of the diligent maketh rich. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; [But] he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame." — Proverbs 10:4-5 (ASV)
For a prince to suppress vice, and reform his people, is the best way to support his government.
We are to fit our remarks to the man, and address them to his conscience, so that they may best end the debate.
Do not be among those who desire to be rich. The things of this world are not happiness and a portion for a soul; those who hold them ever so firmly, cannot hold them always, cannot hold them long.
