SCRIPTURE

"He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; [But] he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame." — Proverbs 10:5 (ASV)

If instruction is despised, reprove men rather than allow them to continue undisturbed on the way to ruin.

The really diligent employ foresight as well as labour.

The merits of a cause must be looked to, not the person.

Thoughts are not free; they are under Divine knowledge, and therefore under Divine command. It is a man's shame to act with deceit, with trick and design.

Those who tell lies in discourse are well on their way to being guilty of bearing false witness.

Though sinners strengthen themselves and one another, they shall not escape God's judgments.

Though many capable of giving wise counsel are silent, yet something may be drawn from them, which will reward those who obtain it.

Flatterers put people off their guard, which betrays them into foolish conduct.

Where sin reigns, the man is loathsome. If his conscience were awake, he would abhor himself, and repent in dust and ashes.

The way of sin is distressing and dangerous. But the way of duty is safe and easy.

Those who laugh at poverty treat God's providence and precepts with contempt.

Here is just blame for those who trifle away opportunities, both for this life and for the life to come.

A conscientious witness will not dare to represent anything other than according to his knowledge.

If a man seeks the Lord, it is a good sign that he understands much, and it is a good means of understanding more.
