Matthew Henry Commentary Proverbs 12:4

"A worthy woman is the crown of her husband; But she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones." — Proverbs 12:4 (ASV)

A wife who is pious, prudent, and attends well to the ways of her household, who is conscientious about her duty and can bear crosses; such a woman is an honour and comfort to her husband. She who is the opposite of this, preys upon him and consumes him.
