SCRIPTURE

"Behold, bless ye Jehovah, all ye servants of Jehovah, That by night stand in the house of Jehovah. Lift up your hands to the sanctuary, And bless ye Jehovah. Jehovah bless thee out of Zion; Even he that made heaven and earth." — Psalms 134:1-3 (ASV)

We must stir ourselves up to give glory to God and encourage ourselves to hope for mercy and grace from him. It is an excellent plan to fill all our spare minutes with pious meditations, and prayers and praises. No time would then be a burden, nor should we murder our hours with trifling conversation, vain amusements, or carnal indulgences.

We need desire nothing more to make us happy than to be blessed by the Lord. We ought to beg for spiritual blessings, not only for ourselves but for others—not only "The Lord bless me" but "The Lord bless you"—thus testifying to our belief that there is enough for others as well as for us, and showing our goodwill to others.
