Matthew Henry Commentary

Matthew Henry Commentary
"Mine eyes are ever toward Jehovah; For he will pluck my feet out of the net. Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; For I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged: Oh bring thou me out of my distresses. Consider mine affliction and my travail; And forgive all my sins. Consider mine enemies, for they are many; And they hate me with cruel hatred. Oh keep my soul, and deliver me: Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in thee. Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, For I wait for thee. Redeem Israel, O God, Out all of his troubles." — Psalms 25:15-22 (ASV)
The psalmist concludes, as he began, by expressing dependence on God and desire toward him. It is good so to hope, and quietly to wait for the salvation of the Lord.
And if God turns to us, it does not matter who turns from us. He pleads his own integrity. Though guilty before God, yet, regarding his enemies, he had the testimony of conscience that he had done them no wrong.
God would, eventually, give Israel rest from all their enemies around them. In heaven, God's Israel will be perfectly redeemed from all troubles.
Blessed Savior, You have graciously taught us that without You we can do nothing. Teach us how to pray, how to appear before You in the way You will choose, and how to lift up our whole hearts and desires to You, for You are the Lord our righteousness.
