Thomas Aquinas Commentary Jeremiah 10:22

"The voice of tidings, behold, it cometh, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah a desolation, a dwelling-place of jackals." — Jeremiah 10:22 (ASV)

Here, he determines the order of the punishment, foreshadowing the enemy who is to come from the north. From the north shall spread every evil upon the inhabitants of the land (Jeremiah 1:14).
