"And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue that remain of this evil family, that remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith Jehovah of hosts." — Jeremiah 8:3 (ASV)

1. Here, he shows the oppression of those who remain, signified by their choice of death, which in itself is not worthy of choice except insofar as it is an end to evils. In those days men will seek death, but will not find it; and they shall desire to die, but death shall flee from them (Revelation 9:6).
