SCRIPTURE

"Let all their wickedness come before thee; And do unto them, as thou hast done unto me for all my transgressions: For my sighs are many, and my heart is faint." — Lamentations 1:22 (ASV)

Here he seeks vengeance.

  1. He recalls their fault to mind: let all their evil, their sin, be present before you. May the iniquity of his fathers be remembered in the sight of the LORD, and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out (Psalms 108:14).
  2. He demands punishment: make a vintage of them. As it says earlier: for he has made a vintage of me, as the LORD spoke in the day of his fierce anger (Lamentations 1:12).
  3. He assigns the cause: for my sighs are many, because of the evils that I suffer from them. My sorrow is above sorrow (Jeremiah 8:18).
