SCRIPTURE

"The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath abhorred his sanctuary; He hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces: They have made a noise in the house of Jehovah, as in the day of a solemn assembly." — Lamentations 2:7 (ASV)

Here he touches on the destruction of the structures that were in the temple.

First, concerning the altar for worship: His altar of holocausts, the Lord has cast off, handing it over to their enemies to be profaned; and his sanctuary, where the sacrifices of propitiation were offered. As it is written, They saw the sanctuary desolate, and the altar profaned , and, The holy places have come into the hands of strangers .

Third, concerning the burning of the temple by men: They have made a noise of blasphemies or cries of war, as in the day of a solemn feast, just as the priests were accustomed to do when praising God. This fulfills the prophecy, A voice of the people from the city, a voice from the temple, the voice of the Lord that renders recompense to his enemies (Isaiah 66:6).
