Along the Silent Path

M. B. C. Slade • English

Primary Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

Verse 1

Along the silent path By viewless spirits trod, Another little traveler Hath gone to be with God.

Chorus

Bid us, O Lord, to go, Or bid us here to stay; We’ll walk with Thee while here below, Or up the silent way.

Verse 2

Gone up from human love To higher love and care; From pain below to peace above, In mansions, oh, so fair!

Chorus

Bid us, O Lord, to go, Or bid us here to stay; We’ll walk with Thee while here below, Or up the silent way.

Verse 3

Attune our hearts, O Lord, Though they with sorrow swell, To say this meek, submissive word— “Thou doest all things well.”

Chorus

Bid us, O Lord, to go, Or bid us here to stay; We’ll walk with Thee while here below, Or up the silent way.
