And Did My Savior Die

Verse 1

And did my Saviour die for me Upon the cruel, shameful tree? Did He such agony endure For one so worthless, so impure?

O yes, Thou died'st for me; What can I do for Thee? I'll true and perfect be, And follow where Thou leadest me.

And can I yet delay to give My love and homage while I live? Can I by walking in the flesh, Open His bleeding wounds afresh?

Can I His will and suffering know And yet in sin still longer go? Unheeding of His gentle call, Shall I refuse to give Him all?

O God forbid! and let me be A living sacrifice to Thee; Body and soul and spirit, Lord, Keep e'er obedient to Thy Word.
