Be near, O God, to me

Verse 1

Be near, O God, to me, Nearer to me; So shall I truly be "Nearer to Thee." Thy face I can not see, Still be Thou near to me, Nearer, O God, to me, Nearer to me.

Verse 2

Fold me beneath Thy wing, Saviour divine; There may I sweetly sing, "Jesus is mine." O'er all life's stormy sea, My guide and haven be, Nearer, O God, to me, Nearer to me.

Verse 3

Thy hand, in youth's wild way, Did me uphold; Forsake me not, I pray, When I am old; I put my trust in Thee, Now and eternally, Be near, O God, to me, Nearer to me.
