Come now, my dear brethren, I bid you farewell

Primary Scripture: Acts 20:25

Verse 1

Come now, my dear brethren, I bid you farewell; I'm going to travel to preach the gospel. I'm going to travel the wilderness through; Therefore, my dear brethren, I bid you adieu.

Verse 2

To think of our parting doth cause me to grieve So well I do love you, yet you I must leave. My Jesus commands me and I must obey; therefore, my dear brethern, do n't grieve after me.

Verse 3

May God's grace protect you, be Jesus your guide; In the way of our Zion may you all abide. Through we live at a distance,and you I ne'er see, On the banks of sweet Canaan acquainted we 'll be.

Verse 4

There all things are plenty, the leaves growing green, And the parting of Christians no more will be seen; No troubles, nor trials shall enter that place, But there we will join in a song of free grace.

Verse 5

Farewell to all sorrow, temptation and pain, I'm going where Jesus foreer doth reign. I'm going to Jesus, 't is him I adore, With Saints and with angels to dwell evermore.

Verse 6

And when we meet Jesus in mansions above, Where angels in glory are filled with his love; O, then shall I look for those mourners who 're here; How glad will we be to meet each other there.
