My soul is sad and sinful; O Father, hear me pray; Take from my heart this burden, And bear it far away.

Create in me a clean heart, O God; renew a right spirit within me. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity; cleanse me from my sin.

O cast my sins behind Thee, Remember them no more; Look on Thine own Anointed, The Christ whom I adore.

Forgive, O loving Saviour, My unbelief and sin; My soul is waiting, longing, Thy courts to enter in.

O give the oil of gladness, Accept the gift I bring; Then I will chant Thy praises, Thy glory will I sing.
