Primary Scripture: Psalm 78
Verse 1
Did'st thou O Saviour! condecend To take a human birth? Thou art our great and dearest friend That ever was on earth.
Verse 2
To make attonements for our guilt, As justice did demand; When circumcis'd thy blood was spilt And shed by human hand.
Verse 3
At the first shedding of thy blood Salvation was began; When thou, who art the Mighty God Was't circumcis'd as man.
Verse 4
Sweet is the sound of thy bless'd name! Where e'er it is applied: Thou art thy-self become the same What thy name signified.
Verse 5
Thy blood became the saving means For all the human race: To cleanse them from their countless sins, And make them heirs of grace.
Verse 6
What great, what condecending love! Did the dear Saviour show, When he left all the heav'ns above To save us here below.
