He Knows, He Knows
Mary G. Brainard (1869) • English
Primary Scripture: Job 23:10
Verse 1
I know not what shall befall me, God hangs a mist o'er my eyes, And at each step in my onward way, He makes new scenes to arise, And ev'ry joy he sends to me Is a strange and sweet surprise.
Chorus
Not knowing, not knowing, I'll follow Jesus my Savior, Not knowing, not knowing, I'll follow where'er he leads.
Verse 2
Oh, restful, blissful, darkness, 'Tis blessed not to know, It keeps me still in the arms of God, Which will not let me go; My soul is hushed to peaceful rest In the heart that loves me so.
Chorus
Not knowing, not knowing, I'll follow Jesus my Savior, Not knowing, not knowing, I'll follow where'er he leads.
Verse 3
So I go onward, not knowing, I would not if I might, I'd rather walk in the dark with God Than walk alone in the light, I'd rather walk with him by faith Than walk alone by sight.
Chorus
Not knowing, not knowing, I'll follow Jesus my Savior, Not knowing, not knowing, I'll follow where'er he leads.
