Humble and Earnest Entreaties

Anne Steele • English

Primary Scripture: Psalm 27:7

Verse 1

Hear, gracious God, my humble moan, To Thee I breathe my sigh: When will the mournful night be gone? When shall my joys arise?

Verse 2

Yet though my soul in darkness mourns, Thy promise is my stay; Here would I rest till light returns, Thy presence makes my day.

Verse 3

Come, Lord, and with celestial peace, Relieve my aching heart; Oh smile, and bid my sorrows cease, And all their gloom depart.

Verse 4

Then shall my drooping spirit rise, And bless Thy healing rays, And change these deep complaining sighs For songs of sacred praise.
