Primary Scripture: Psalm 62
Verse 1
My Soul for Help on GOD relies, On GOD, who daily Strength supplies. To his blest Will I am resigned; From Him alone my Courage flows, To bear the Shock of all my Foes, When they against me are combined.
Verse 2
How long will ye my Fall contrive? How long will ye against me strive, And hasten on your own unding? You'll totter like a bending Wall, Like uncemented Stones shall fall, And lie involv'd in sudden Ruin.
Verse 3
They daily Lies against me frame, With Falshoods wound my spotless Name, In secret still my Fall designing: They strive to make my Honours less, Though with their Mouths they seem to bless, Their hearts to Curses are inclining.
Verse 4
But thou, my Soul, on GOD rely, Who does continual Strength supply; To his blest Will be thou resigned: From him alone my Courage flows, To bear the Shock of all my Foes, When they against me are combined.
Verse 5
GOD does His saving Health dispense, He is my Fortress and Defence; My Soul on him alone depending: In him ye People always trust, For GOD, the merciful and just, His timely Aid is ever sending.
Verse 6
The Vulgar fickle are and frail; The great Ones oft in Judgment fail, Or else are treach'rously betraying: If in the Scale of Truth they're laid, 'Tis seen how lightly both are made, The smallest Trifles them outweighing.
Verse 7
Then trust not in oppressive Ways, Nor strive by lawless Force to raise, Your growing Heaps of ill-got Treasure: By Spoil and Rapine grow not vain, Nor let your Hearts on worldly Gain, Be fixt with such Delight and Pleasure.
Verse 8
For GOD has oft his Will express'd, And is of boundless Pow'r possess'd; In him are Grace and Truth united: Belongs, of Right, to God alone. Though Mercy is his Works takes Place, Yet for their Deeds, the human Race, Shall by his Justice be requited.
