O child whose name is God-with-Us, For God and flesh are one, And putting on our nature thus Brings aid to the undone:

Not as a king you meet us now, No gold your throne adorns, No royal crown is on your brow, Except a crown of thorns.

You come to suffer scorn and pain And die upon a cross And all because you did ordain To join as one with us.
Verse 4
You come a holy law to teach, A perfect rule to set, Give blind their sight, and mute their speech, And be rejected yet.
Verse 5
Oh, make us one with you below, In heart, and will, and love, And when our time draws near to go, Still keep us one above!
Verse 6
We wait in faith, we wait in prayer Until the happy morn When you will come our flesh to share And for ours sakes be born.
Verse 7
To God, from whom all blessings spring, Are praise and glory due, Same glory to the coming King, And Holy Ghost, to you.
