O tell me, tell me, do you know the Lord? Does His Spirit keep His vigil in your heart? Do you feed your soul upon His precious word, And in His holy vineyard do your part?

O tell me, tell me, is the Lord your shield? Is He your daily portion here below? If not, I pray you, to the Saviour yield, Then the joy of His salvation you may know.

O let no pleasure tempt your soul away, Let no earthly idol steal from Him your mind, But keep your heart upon Him day by day, And blessed peace abiding you will find.

The day is coming when His love you'll need, O then love and serve Him while you're young and strong. For He alone will prove a friend indeed, When trouble steals away your joyous song.
