O the agonizing prayer Rising on the midnight air! "Let this cup pass from Thy Son: Not my will, but Thine be done!"

O the tears and bloody sweat Falling fast on Olivet! In Thy lonely agony, Shedding crimson tears for me!

Verse 3

O what wrath of earth and hell On Thy head unpitying fell, When Thy passion time began, Bearer of the sin of man!

Verse 4

Waken me from sinful sleep; Faithful, loving, make me keep, Watching ev'ry hour with Thee Who didst agonize for me!
