Ye people of the Living God, Lift up your heads and sing; To magnify his holy name Let every glad harp ring.

Once sold for naught to serve as slaves, Our precious birthright lost; Our blest Redeemer ransomed us At great and fearful cost.

Tho’ in the land of strangers now, Surrounded by the foe, Ere long with songs and shouts of joy To Zion fair we’ll go.
